No One Talks About This Part

By Brian Alfaro

There’s a version of fatherhood that gets talked about all the time…

The version that talks about being present, patient, and making the most of every moment.

Sure, all of this is important & a part of fatherhood.

But there’s another side that doesn’t get talked about as often.

The part where it’s harder than you expected. Where your routine gets flipped upside down, you feel pulled in different directions…

Trying to be a good dad, husband, and still keep up with life.

Sometimes there are moments where you miss your old life a bit.

That doesn’t mean you don’t love your kids. It just means you’re adjusting to something that changed everything.

But here’s the issue: Most guys don’t say that out loud.

It feels like you’re not supposed to, so instead of expressing it, they carry it quietly and keep showing up.

When those conversations do happen — when someone finally says “this is harder than I thought” — the response is almost always the same.

“Yeah.. same here.”

No advice. No solutions. Just recognition.

Funny enough, that alone seems to take some of the weight off.

Truth is, most men aren’t struggling because they don’t know what to do.

They’re struggling because they feel like they’re the only ones finding it hard.

But they’re not. Everyone else is too. They just don’t talk about it.

The solution is simple — talk about it more. Open up.

There is no shame in sitting around with the guys discussing how hard fatherhood is. You’re not complaining or regretting anything — just sharing.

Personally, I’ve found those conversations to be more valuable than I expected.

Not because they solve anything overnight, but because they remind you that you’re not the only one carrying it.

And sometimes that’s enough to lighten the weight, even if just a little.

What Most Men Don’t Say Out Loud

A lot of men don’t feel like they can slow down at work, even when they want to.

Because in the back of their mind, everything is connected.

Their performance. Their income. Their ability to provide.

So they keep pushing.

Even when they’re tired. Even when they know they’re stretched thin.

Not because someone told them to…

but because it feels like there’s too much at stake to ease up.

Something Worth Thinking About

One quiet idea to carry into the week.

Most men think they need more clarity before they move forward.

In reality, clarity usually comes after.
